The term “Communism” was first coined by the French philosopher Victor d’Hupay in his book ‘Project for a Philosophical Community’. In it, d’Hupay described what a ‘commune lifestyle’ would look like. The idea of a communist society is one in which material possessions would be commonly owned and divisions based on rank and privilege would be abolished.
In political and social sciences, communism is the philosophical, social, political and economic ideology and movement whose ultimate goal is the establishment of the communist state and society. This is a socioeconomic order structured upon the common ownership of the means of production and the absence of social classes.
