According to WIKIPEDIA’s definition, Identity Politics refers to political positions based on the interests and perspectives of social groups with which people identify. The term came into being in the 1970s during the African-American Civil Rights era. Identity Politics includes the ways in which people’s politics are shaped by aspects of their identity through loosely connected social organisations.
